PBC Companion App

This app is designed for people with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). What makes it special is that it was co-developed by PBC patients.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and helped test the app!

Its goal is to support PBC patients in managing their condition and the associated symptoms and complaints in their daily lives. It also aims to foster disease literacy and active self-management.
By documenting their symptoms, test results, and quality of life—and provided they give their consent—app users contribute to scientific progress, as the data is analysed by Prof. Dr. Dr. Andreas Teufel (Greifswald). This allows for the scientific analysis and publication of findings regarding gaps in care, the burden of PBC, and self-management, ultimately making this information available to health policymakers.
Data analysis is conducted exclusively on an anonymized basis (it is impossible to trace data back to individuals) and complies with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
Patients can also participate in future data analyses by submitting their own research questions via the Patient Advisory Board (Beirat@pbcnews.info).
