The world has made significant strides in a number of areas in the fight against cancer. Unfortunately, liver cancer cases continue to rise and the disease remains a major burden for patients. Worldwide, liver cancer (source: www.who.int) is the third leading cause of cancer-related death. Ascending trend. However, this should not be the case as risk populations and prevention strategies are known. There are significant differences in the survival of patients diagnosed with liver cancer: with a median survival time from the start of treatment of 60 months in Japan, 33 months in North America, 23/24 months in China and Europe, and 3 months in southern African countries the Sahara.

These inequalities are incompatible with the principle that all people, regardless of race, religion, political opinion, economic or social status, should have access to the highest standard of health. Universal health coverage has been set as a goal by the global community within the framework of UN sustainability.

There is therefore an urgent need for action.

ILCM is a global patient coalition and connector that supports community building and global exchange on liver cancer.

It's the first-ever global movement for liver cancer. Kautz5 gUG created this and provides the secretariat.

More than 80 representatives of patient organisations, professional societies and public health institutions already support ILCM worldwide. These include our sponsors and clients Astra Zeneca, Roche and Bayer Health.
